Middle Division Community Service
- A fifth grader started the Alex Kookies for Kids Corporation in 2003 to raise funds for children's charities and has raised over $4,000. He sponsored the Suncoast Classic Run for Kids that benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay.
- Junior Girl Scout Troop 50, made up of Shorecrest fifth graders, planted oak trees and placed stepping stones at Quantum Leap Farm, Inc., a special horse farm facility that provides therapeutic riding to handicapped adults. They also took part in the "Cookies from Home” program and sent 19 cases of cookies for U. S. troops overseas.
- Fifth graders created messages of cheer and goodwill with hand-made holiday cards to send to American service personnel.
- Fifth and sixth grade students used their drama productions of 101 Dalmatians as an opportunity to donate over 101 bags of dog and cat food to the SPCA. Instead of paying admissions, the audience members donated to the pet food drive.
- A number of students donated their hair to Locks of Love, which collects real hair for wigs for kids going through chemotherapy.
- Eighth graders culminated a year of learning in their Oceanography class and working with Tampa Bay Watch monitoring and caring for sea grasses by planting sea grass Spatina at Ft. DeSoto to help restore the Tampa Bay habitat.
