PSAT (Preliminary SAT): A practice test consisting
of three sections - Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing.
These scores are NOT sent to the colleges. The PSAT is designed
as a teaching tool to help students begin to understand their testing
strengths and weaknesses. Students are registered for the PSAT
by Shorecrest.
SAT Reasoning Test: The SAT Reasoning Test is a three-hour and twenty minute,
primarily multiple-choice test measures Critical Reading, Writing
and Mathematics skills that students have developed over time. A
twenty-five minute essay is also incorporated into the Writing
section. Most colleges require SAT Reasoning Test scores for admission. Students
must register for this test on their own. Registration booklets
are available in the College Counseling office. Students can also
register online via the College Board’s web site: http://www.collegeboard.com
SAT Subject Test: SAT Subject Tests are one-hour, primarily
multiple-choice tests that measure a student's knowledge of particular
subjects and his/her ability to apply that knowledge. Many private
colleges require or recommend one or more SAT Subject Tests for admission. Most
public universities do not require SAT Subject Tests. Students
usually take the SAT Subject Tests in early June. Students must register
for this test on their own. Registration booklets are available
