Early Childhood

The Shorecrest Early Childhood Center contains two Alpha classes for children ages 3-4 and three Junior Kindergarten classes for children ages 4-5. It is a five-day program with options for different dismissal times. We believe in tailoring the length of the day to meet the needs of each child and family.

The Early Childhood program is designed to promote growth in all areas of each student’s development. Always keeping a picture of the “whole child” in mind, the teachers provide an enriching variety of hands-on activities to facilitate personal, social and emotional, gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive development.

Program goals include:

  • Providing a safe, comfortable, nurturing environment
  • Helping students to develop a love of school and learning
  • Implementing a curriculum that is both developmentally and individually appropriate for all students
  • Teaching children to embrace the concept of functioning as a member of the community
