The Lower Division (Kindergarten
- Grade 4)
Shorecrest’s Lower Division provides the foundation necessary
for students to be successful at the next level. In these formative
years, the academic focus is on the development of fundamental
skills in several key areas.
Communication—A strong language arts program stresses oral
and written communication, reading comprehension, and an appreciation
of literature.
Math—Incorporating recommendations from the National Council
of Teachers of Mathematics Standards, the mathematics curriculum
focuses on developing an understanding of mathematical concepts
and the ability to think and reason. It also provides opportunities
to apply these skills in problem solving situations.
Science and Technology—Science, social studies, and the
integration of technology contribute to a balanced curriculum.
Additional Programs—Every student also participates in Spanish,
music, art, and physical education. In addition, a comprehensive
Fine Arts Enrichment Program introduces all students to accomplished
artists, various music forms and theatrical performances. |
