    Beginning on 8am on Tuesday, November 27 (Giving Tuesday), and running until noon on Saturday, December 1, we are asking Shorecrest Alumni to consider joining The Charger Challenge. Over these 100 Hours, the Shorecrest Alumni Association is challenging 100 Alumni to make a gift of any size.

    The alumni office is proud to spotlight Lillian Nave ‘91, who currently serves as a Faculty Fellow at Appalachian State University and as the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Coordinator for their Center for Academic Excellence. She has a passion for teaching her First Year Students and for international travel. Her Art, Religion & Society First Year Seminar engages the students with the Boone community and the world at large through the visual arts. From gallery shows to student-made documentary films, and from Boone to New York City, and Kabul, Afghanistan, students learn what a valuable tool art can be to communicate ideas, culture and emotion.

  • Dylan Leary β€˜16 Discusses Farming with Fourth Grade

    Fourth graders are deep into their year-long unit on the environment and sustainability. This week they were able to Skype with Dylan Leary ‘16, a student at the Culinary Institute of America. Dylan is spending this semester on an externship learning about how food grows and where our food comes from in the United States. Dylan is based in Southern California at Apricot Lane Farms. There, his team has the mission of creating a well-balanced ecosystem and rich soils that produce nutrient-dense foods.

  • Jonathan Dacres '17 Honored at Academy Prep Breakfast for Scholars

    On Thursday, October 25, before 250 attendees of the Academy Prep Breakfast for Scholars, Jonathan Dacres ‘17 was honored with Academy Prep’s Ben Fisher Alumni Mentoring Award. Named for Ben Fisher, the late co-founder and Executive Director of the Academy Prep Foundation, the award is given to one exemplary Academy Prep graduate each year.

  • Sunshine, Wind, and Water: Shorecrest Paddlers make an Historic Journey by Kayak

    In 13-mph winds, nine paddlers launched from North Shore Park beach, the 1923 location of Shorecrest Outdoor School, to kayak to the current Shorecrest Preparatory School campus. Under sunny skies and a big headwind, Headmaster Mike Murphy, seniors Walker Willis, Trevor Bernstein, Chris Canizares, Sophie Elwyn, Reagan Quilty, and Lily Schneider, along with alumni Bob Willis, Jr. ’77 and Jackson Willis ’15, jumped in the new, bright green kayaks Walker secured for Shorecrest students to use. The nine cheerful paddlers completed a historic journey from the old Shorecrest campus to the current one.
