Launching a Writing Workshop in an Independent School Classroom

Dates: July 22 - 24, 8:30am - 3:30pm

In this comprehensive three-day seminar, Sarah, along with guest experts, will teach participants the nuts and bolts of how to implement the routines and procedures of a successful writing workshop in 2nd through 5th grade classrooms in independent schools. Seminar sessions will focus on practical methods for modeling, teaching and assessing writing through a workshop model. Participants will leave with a strong foundation in teaching narrative and informational writing, conferring with writers, using student writing to plan instruction, and much more!

Earn 18 hours toward recertification!

Minimum Participants - 8; Maximum Participants - 25
Cost: $250 (Includes professional texts, binders with session content, children’s books to use for instruction, coffee, light breakfast and snacks)

Your Instructor

Sarah Finnemore Palazzolo is a teacher and literacy consultant with expertise in reading and writing workshops and literacy curriculum development. She has taught third through fifth grades. Her experience as an independent school teacher, her training in reading and writing workshop from Columbia University, and Sarah’s position as lead staff developer and literacy coach with Pinellas County Schools allows her to offer specialized and practical professional development in literacy.
