Class of 2021 Salutatorian Hailey Levitz has a love of learning and curiosity well beyond just earning a good grade. She has been recognized as a National Merit Finalist and is a candidate for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program - one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors.
Deeply interested in pursuing medicine as a career, Hailey has taken advantage of all of the highest level science courses offered at Shorecrest, pursuing AP Chemistry, AP Biology, Anatomy, and Intro to Medical Studies. She’s also a year or two ahead of most seniors in math, through Multivariable Calculus. In a questionnaire from the College Center given to Shorecrest sophomores, Chargers were asked what they think the greatest invention of all time is. Most students are quick to write air conditioning, cell phones or another first-world luxury. Not Hailey. Her response? Antibiotics.
When Hailey isn’t getting lost in the pages of a book, you might hear her practicing guitar chords. She is a talented musician who plays both acoustic and electric guitar. Those close to Hailey describe her as a gentle soul, which is why animals are so important to her, especially her dogs - which you may remember from her eighth grade passion project she trained to do tricks for her family. She finds ways to support her community and incorporate her passions as well by volunteering at the local animal shelter and library.
