Ms. Alvanita Hope joined Shorecrest from a position as Director of Enrollment at The Friends School of Atlanta in Decatur, Georgia.

Alvanita brings a wealth of experience in independent schools as an administrator as well as a parent and student; she, herself is an alumna of UMS-Wright Preparatory School in her hometown of Mobile, Alabama. She holds a B.A. in Biology with a minor in Dance from Agnes Scott College and a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University. 

After beginning her career in healthcare administration, Ms. Hope returned to her alma mater to apply her data and analytical skills to her role as Associate Director of Admission at Agnes Scott College. She went on to use her college admissions knowledge to support high school students by serving in the College Counseling offices at The Weber School and The Westminster Schools, respectively. As the Director of Enrollment for The Friends School, a position she has held since 2018, Alvanita has successfully met or exceeded her enrollment goals while working to find best-fit families for the school community. A proven relationship-builder, Ms. Hope makes meaningful connections across the school, empowering faculty, staff, students and parents to effectively tell the school’s story. 

Beyond the school, Alvanita is actively involved in the greater community. She has served on the Board as Nominating Chair of the Junior League of Atlanta, and is a member of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, among other organizations and causes. 

Alvanita is the proud mother of three children; Kirklen, Enrique '25, and Alejandro '31; and Coco-Chanel, their rescue Australian Shepherd/chocolate lab. 
Mark Brown

Mark Brown joined Shorecrest in 2018 to teach Social Studies to our Upper School students from the Bolles School, where he also served as an assistant track and field coach. He began as Associate Director of Enrollment Management in 2022. Mr. Brown received his Master of Arts degree focused on Teaching, Leadership, and Cultural Competence from the University of Iowa, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Florida State University, where he also competed on the FSU track and field team. His wife is a nurse practitioner at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and they have three young children.
Beth Mantooth

Beth Mantooth has a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from The University of Florida and a Masters of Education in Early Childhood from The University of Florida. She has been an integral part of our school community since 2001. She taught Alpha in The Experiential School of Tampa Bay for 10 years. Beth has recently transitioned to Enrollment Management. She has three children attending Shorecrest.

Roderick Avery Fludd, a Columbia, South Carolina, native, joined Shorecrest in 2017 as the School's first Director of Diversity and Inclusion. He has more than 20 years of experience in education, including 15+ years in Diversity, Inclusion and Equity work. Roderick received his B.S. in Mathematics from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC, and his Masters in Education from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY.

Since joining Shorecrest, he has become an integral part of the community. He is the faculty sponsor of several student organizations including the Gender and Sexuality Acceptance (GSA) Affinity group and the Black Student Union. He has advised and developed numerous adult affinity groups which includes International Connection (for our school's international families). He works with the greater Tampa Bay community to strengthen our connections with other organizations. He also coaches our Varsity Softball team.

Before coming to Shorecrest, Roderick held multiple positions at The Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, CT, including Mathematics Department Chair and Director of Diversity Programs and Community Life. Prior to GCDS, Roderick taught middle school math at the Brentwood School in Los Angeles, CA. Additionally, he has coached JV/Varsity softball since he began teaching.

An avid collector of bow ties, cufflinks, and watches, Roderick is a lifelong Dodgers fan and roots for the Utah Jazz. In his spare time, he loves to play golf and works as an equity consultant.
