After winning the Florida State Championship Title in javelin throwing for two consecutive years, Shorecrest Chargers athlete Sonoma Kasica ‘24 was invited to compete at the Nike Outdoor National Track Meet in Eugene, Oregon, on June 18, 2022.
In baseball and in life, sometimes you have to fail to succeed. It’s a lesson JC Barrott '22 knows well. "Baseball is a game of failure, so it’s really a life lesson that you have to keep failing at life in order to succeed,” Barrott said.
The Shorecrest Prep senior has had his share of strikeouts, but now, he’s a home-run hitter. With a .514 batting average, his statistics speak for themselves.
Sonoma Kasica '24 won the state title in javelin in all classes 1A-4A in Florida! This performance also made Sonoma the first two-time State Champion in the same event. Nine additional Chargers were top 8 finishes and made the podium.
Shorecrest hosted the track and field District 11 meet on Thursday, April 21. Twelve teams competed for a district title in the most competitive district in the state by far. After the day-long district competition, the Chargers boys ended the day taking home a hard fought 2nd place, district runner up trophy. After being the district runner-up last year, the girls came back to win the title in the end.
