On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Head of School, Nancy Spencer, welcomed Dr. Allen Root for a personal tour of the recently renovated Root Family Fine Arts Gallery adjacent to the Janet Root Theatre. A rededication established the space as the new home of the Janet Root Award for Excellence in Visual Arts.
Alumna Laura Peterson Addicott ‘12 was the Valedictorian and Outstanding Senior of the Shorecrest Class of 2012. It is a tradition at Shorecrest for the Outstanding Senior to return to speak at Commencement 10 years after their own graduation. Laura will return to Shorecrest later this month to address the Class of 2022. Learn what she's been up to!
Due to a public speaking ability learned by listening to his newsman father, Paul Wilson was chosen to read the student announcements at Shorecrest Preparatory School in the mid 1980s. But he didn’t always mimic his father John Wilson, the retired Tampa news anchor. “Sometimes I’d read the announcements like Richard Nixon,” Wilson, 54, said. “Who knew that would lead to a job?”
In December 2020, alumna Jordan Tralins ’19 felt like there was a hole in her social media feed regarding the COVID-19 information shared by her age group - college students. The Cornell University junior - who plans to pursue medicine with a focus on neurodiversity - decided to use her skills of medical research to share relatable content in bite-sized chunks with her peers on TikTok and Instagram. Information for the messaging comes from the CDC, WHO and the New England Journal of Medicine.

The Shorecrest Alumni Association and Upper School hosted a virtual panel discussion on College Life during this week’s Junior and Senior Advisory. As students get closer to their commencement from Shorecrest, it is helpful to hear from some familiar faces about college experiences.
The Admissions Office and Marketing Department released an updated virtual campus tour for prospective families. Students Sean Sheikholeslam ’23 and Phoenix F. ‘30 are delightful tour guides and give narration regarding many of the fabulous programs available at Shorecrest.
