Varsity Chargers Softball Recap, Week of March 18

Chargers 10, St. Petersburg Catholic 5
On Tuesday, Varsity Softball came back from Spring Break strong with a 10-5 win against St. Pete Catholic.

In the first inning, the Chargers started with a strong offense. Dorothy Cenedella '21 singled and earned an RBI as Asha Swann '21 scored the first run of the day. St. Pete Catholic then came alive, going into the sixth inning with a lead. In the top of the sixth inning, Shorecrest was down 5-2 when Ashlee Burkett '19 started a rally. A string of singles followed by a double by Lili Arasimowicz '21 led to Shorecrest’s big 7-run inning that earned them the win.
The Chargers collected 18 hits on the day. Shorecrest offense was led by Dorothy, Lillee B., Rachel Ford '21, and Gabi H. '23, each going 3 for 4 at the plate, while Ashlee and Asha each hit .500 to contribute to the win. Shorecrest launched one home run - Asha had a solid homer to right center field in the sixth inning.

Asha Swann earned the win for Shorecrest. She pitched all seven innings with an impressive 13 strikeouts and zero walks.

Chargers 5, St. Stephen’s Episcopal 20
Taylor R. '23 and Lillee B. '23 led the Chargers, both going 2 for 2 at the plate. Lillee, Libby C., and Gabi H. each picked up an RBI in the tough game against St. Stephens. Though the Chargers had five runs scored and a .429 team batting average for the day, St. Stephens’ bats were hot as they took the win.

Shorecrest will take on Clearwater Central Catholic at home this
Friday, March 22, at 4pm.
The Chargers will play Admiral Farragut, Northside Christian, and Indian Rocks Christian next week.
