|Jill Gallego, Junior Kindergarten Teacher|
Jill Gallego has taught for 10 years within the 4 and 5-year-old classroom and was twice nominated as a public school Teacher of the Year in two different counties. Jill earned a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, NY, and a master’s degree in Education from Marygrove College located in Detroit, MI. She holds professional educator certificates in early childhood education, elementary education, and exceptional student education. Most recently, Jill worked as a one-on-one aide for a Shorecrest student and as a substitute teacher in The Experiential School. She is also a Shorecrest parent. Jill’s son Joseph attended JK last year and is now a Kindergarten student.
|Claire McLean, Alpha Teacher|
Claire McLean will be joining Shorecrest’s Experiential School of Tampa Bay Alpha team as a Lead Teacher. She has spent the past 7 years educating and inspiring children in an independent school setting, most recently teaching PreKindergarten at the Academy of the Holy Names. Claire has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an ESOL endorsement from the University of Tampa, and has completed graduate coursework in the Reggio Emilia Approach to Early Childhood Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
Brendi Craver returned to the ES faculty in a new role as an Alpha Teaching Assistant. Her decision to have more time to devote to her family prompted this positive change. Mrs. Craver is a wonderful, capable teacher and the Alpha team looks forward to having her as a teammate. Mrs. Craver will assist Mrs. McClean.
|Erika Almskaar, Second Grade Teacher|
Erika Almskaar has a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Studies from Portland State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Portland. Last year, Erika moved to Florida and spent the past year teaching at St. Paul’s in Clearwater. She has taught kindergarten, first, and second grade at the Trillium Charter School and Catlin Gabel School in Portland, OR. She also was a resident at the University Child Development School in Seattle, WA.
|Danielle Cameron, Fourth Grade Teacher|
Danielle Cameron has over 15 years of teaching experience. She previously worked at Shorecrest for eight years before deciding to teach online and homeschool her children. For the past year, she has been teaching at North Tampa Christian Academy in Wesley Chapel, FL. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Oakwood University and a Master of Science in Education focusing on Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Danielle’s husband, Richie Cameron, is a teacher in the Upper School and her three children -- Khali, Alaya, and Ellis -- will be joining the Experiential and Lower Schools.
|Nicole Carson, First Grade Teacher|
Nicole Carson has taught for over 20 years and will be transitioning from the Experiential School of Tampa Bay to Lower School. Nicole grew up in Ohio, and graduated from Wright State University where she majored in Elementary Education and in Interdisciplinary Arts and Humanities. She moved to Florida in 1997 where she received her Early Childhood Certification (PreK-3rd grade). She taught for 9 years at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Florida where she taught PreK, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade. In 2006, she came to Shorecrest as a Junior Kindergarten teacher and remained in that position for seven years beforing moving to Alpha in 2013.
|Julianne Damaskos, Kindergarten Teacher|
Julianne Damaskos grew up in Clearwater, FL. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a master’s degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Math, Science and Technology from the University of Florida. She was a resident at the P.K. Younge School and taught at Dunedin Elementary School in Clearwater, FL. For the past four years she has been teaching at The Park School, an independent school in Boston. Her husband William is a new minister and has been assigned to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater. Julianne’s one-year-old daughter, Anna Jean, is two years away from joining Alpha!
|Kimberly Granger, Third Grade Teacher|
Kim Granger, a native of Florida, has a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Saint Leo University and is an MA graduate student of education at the University of Colorado Denver. She has taught for four years at the MackIntosh Academy (IB School for Gifted Students) in Boulder, CO, grades one, two, and three. She is Orton-Gillingham certified. She also was an outdoor education teacher when she worked for AVID4Adventure and a ski and snowboard instructor for K-3 age students in Colorado.
|Marilyn Hayes Johnson, Lower School Music Teacher|
Marilyn Hayes Johnson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with Vocal Concentration from Loyola University in New Orleans. She was a resident teacher at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans and studied music for six months in Edinburgh, Scotland. Marilyn is passionate about community service and has volunteered at The Buddy House, Boys and Girls Club, Animal Rescue, and Saint Bernard Project. Marilyn was raised in Bowling Green, KY, in a family of teachers and musicians.
|Meric Weinkle, Fourth Grade Teacher|
Meric Weinkle has a Bachelor of Science in Childhood and Special Education from New York University and a Master of Arts in Literacy from Columbia University, Teachers College. She has been teaching third grade in the West Village of NYC for the past nine years. She has also been an adjunct professor at City College of New York, NY. Meric grew up in Long Island, NY, and is recently married.
|Jade Quick, Lower School Front Desk Administrative Assistant (Interim)|
Jade Quick will be our interim Front Desk Administrative Assistant from August 15 until after the Thanksgiving Break, while Melissa Lotz is on maternity leave. Jade has been a parent (Carson and Connor) and substitute teacher at Shorecrest for many years. Last year she served as Ms. Vigue’s instructional assistant. Jade has a degree in nursing from Saint Petersburg College.
|Ashley Dernbach, Math|
Ashley Dernbach joins Shorecrest after spending the past six years at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. While at IMG, she taught Geometry and AP Statistics and spent two years serving as the Math Department Chair. Ashley grew up in Washington State and spent seven years in California before moving to Florida in 2013. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Saint Mary’s College of California and a Master of Arts in International Economics from the University of San Francisco. While at Saint Mary’s, she was a 4-year member of the Division 1 women’s soccer team. Currently she is pursuing her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida.
|Heather Elouej, English|
Heather comes to Shorecrest from Tusculum University, located in the mountains of East Tennessee, where she worked as an Associate Professor of English for 10 years, teaching various courses in composition and rhetoric, creative writing, and literature. While at Tusculum, she served as English Department Chair, Writing Program Director, and Editor of the international print literary journal, The Tusculum Review. Heather earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Washington University in St. Louis, and a BA in English/Literature from Georgia College & State University.
|Jan Hyink, College Center Administrative Assistant (Interim)|
Jan Hyink will be our interim Administrative Assistant in the College Center while Bonni Klement is on maternity leave. Meghan Schneider will be filling Bonni's role and meeting with Upper School students, and Jan will be in Meghan's role at the College Center front desk. Jan is an alumni parent, faculty spouse, and has been a substitute at Shorecrest for many years.
|Al Irwin, Spanish|
Al Irwin is a Spanish teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience at the middle and upper school levels, as well as serving as Department Chair. He holds a bachelor's degree in K-12 Spanish Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte. Mr. Irwin comes to us from Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, NC.
|Christian Marcelli, Social Studies and Foreign Language|
Christian Marcelli is a Social Studies and Spanish teacher with seven years of classroom experience and twelve years of experience as a corporate attorney. He studied languages at the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain and earned bachelor's degrees from the University of Central Florida in Political Science and Spanish. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York. After years as a corporate and litigation attorney in New York and Florida, Mr. Marcelli returned to the classroom at Northeast High School where he taught Spanish, AP European History and was the World Languages Department Chair.
|Beth Mantooth, Enrollment Management Administrative Assistant|
Beth Mantooth has a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from the University of Florida, and a Master of Education in Early Childhood from the University of Florida. She has been an integral part of our school community since 2001 as a faculty member and later as a parent and parent volunteer. She taught Alpha in The Experiential School of Tampa Bay for 10 years. Beth has recently transitioned to Admissions and Enrollment Management. She has three children attending Shorecrest.
|Olivia Segalman, Advancement Associate|
Olivia Segalman joined the Shorecrest Advancement Office as the Advancement Associate this summer. A native of Baltimore, MD, she has lived in Tampa, FL, for the past nine years after attending the University of Tampa, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Advertising and Public Relations. She also holds a master's degree in Public Administration from the University of South Florida. Olivia comes to Shorecrest from Tampa Preparatory School where she served as the Communications Coordinator.

Elizabeth Sudderth worked as a consultant/contractor for Shorecrest before joining as a full-time employee earlier this year. She graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from Auburn University, and later a Master’s of Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Florida. Elizabeth started her career as a financial software consultant for Deloitte in Tampa, and then moved to Atlanta to work for Arthur Andersen. Next, she joined the corporate finance world working in various roles for Turner Broadcasting’s strategic planning department for 8 plus years. Elizabeth then moved back home to the Tampa area for a job opportunity for her husband and spent time at home with her children while working part-time as an accountant and running a retail business for 5 years.
