Guidelines to help prevent the spread of illnesses
by Donna Conroy RN, School Nurse
Dear Shorecrest Community:
Like families and school leaders across the country, the Shorecrest administration is carefully monitoring the spread of coronavirus, now known as COVID-19. To date, there are no reported cases of coronavirus in the State of Florida. We are in contact with the Florida Department of Health to ensure that we have the most up to date and accurate information about our immediate community.
The health and safety of our community is our top priority; we are reviewing our crisis plans and are ready to respond to any possible outbreak.
The symptoms of COVID-19 can range from very mild to severe and include fever, dry cough, shortness of breath. The CDC is reporting the incubation to be from 1 to 14 days after exposure.
We encourage our community members to be vigilant about the standard health and hygiene guidelines that help prevent the spread of illnesses:
Wash your hands with soap & water for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom, before eating, blowing your nose, and touching your face
If you do not have access to soap & water use a hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
Cough and or sneeze into your elbow-if use a tissue throw away after one use
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, mouth
Avoid contact with others who are sick
Keep children home if they are exhibiting any signs of illness
Follow the school policy that you must be fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication before returning to school
The Shorecrest maintenance and housekeeping teams have increased campus cleaning and disinfecting efforts as an added precaution.
We will continue to communicate with the community as new information becomes available. Thank you for your continued support.
