Grandparents and Special Friends Day Reimagined

by Stacy Alexander, Director of Alumni and Community Engagement
Grandparents are an important part of our community. Their involvement as leaders, volunteers and donors greatly benefits their grandchildren’s experience at Shorecrest.

While gathering in person for Grandparents and Special Friends Day has been a wonderful, long-standing tradition at Shorecrest, we have had to reimagine the event this year in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Our top priority is the health and well-being of our Shorecrest community members.

Shorecrest students are creating special projects in their classrooms to honor the important role grandparents and special friends play in their lives. Grandparents should keep an eye on their postal mail for these special tokens of appreciation.

Friday, January 22, was originally reserved for Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and is still a half day of school for Alpha – fourth grades. As an extra service, child care is available. Special pre-registration is required, it is not included in Extended Day registration. If you need child care for the afternoon of the 22nd, please reserve your spot here.

We look forward to celebrating Grandparents and Special Friends Day in person again in the near future!
