Successful Beach Clean Up

by Kathryn Jeakle, Eighth Grade Marine Science Teacher
Roughly 70 participants joined Shorecrest & Clean Coast Initiative on the sand of Upham Beach for an educational Beach Clean Up on Saturday, April 23. Over 71 pounds of trash was collected - most of it was cigarette butts and very tiny pieces of plastic.

Sandra the Seashell Expert was on site teaching kids about shells, and TrashCaulin, a TikToker who cleans beaches, joined in as well. Thank you to Woody's Car Shack for the posters and goodie bags!

Shorecrest Preparatory School is an Ocean Guardian School, and the Middle School has made a commitment to keeping local waterways clean.
