Treats for Troops

by Lucille P. '28
Shorecrest Middle Schoolers united to collect 36 pounds of Halloween candy to give to our hardworking troops!

The Shorecrest Middle School hosted a Treats for Troops drive to benefit Operation Shoebox, a non-profit headquartered in Belleview, FL, that sends care packages to military troops stationed around the world. There were multiple Halloween-themed boxes placed around the Middle School. The Chargers mainly collected candy, and some cookies, chips, and beef jerky were included as well.

As of November 2022, Operation Shoebox sends out 400-800 care packages per week to troops deployed all over the globe. When the Shorecrest donation was dropped off, Operation Shoebox had an additional 2500 holiday care packages ready to ship!

Operation Shoebox accepts donations throughout the year.  Please visit www.operationshoebox.com for more information. Thank you so much to all who donated and helped make it happen!
