Updates from The Learning Center

by Nancy L. Spencer, Head of School
The Learning Center at Shorecrest serves all students of our school to ensure academic success at all levels including Alpha, JK, and K-12. Over the past few months, I have been in discussions with Tracie Belt and others about ways for The Learning Center to grow and evolve, including a new 12-month role for the Director of the Learning Center. Consequently, Tracie requested to change her role in the Learning Center to fit her professional goals better. Beginning next year, Tracie will become the Associate Director of the Learning Center and will continue in her role as the Middle School and Upper School Coordinator. This move will allow Tracie to actively partner with students, parents, faculty and staff members.

A shift in her duties will allow Tracie to focus on her passion for guiding, instructing, and advocating for students, families, and teachers so that they can reach their educational best. Tracie will be available to provide additional support and help facilitate a well-rounded learning environment. In addition, evolving her role to Associate Director will offer more time for consulting and collaboration with teachers, parents, and administrators to plan and optimize learning and academic success for children.

A nationwide search for Tracie's successor will begin this month and will be led by a committee that includes faculty and administrators from across the School.

We are grateful to Tracie for her years of service as Director of the Learning Center as we look forward with appreciation to the many contributions she will bring to Shorecrest in her new role.
