Grant Awarded to Help with Food Drive

Senior Jake S has been awarded a $500 Make Your Mark on Hunger grant for service work at Shorecrest. The grant is through generationOn and sponsored by The ConAgra Foods Foundation. A second grant for $500 was received from Halt Hunger (to be completed on Global Youth Service Day in April) through Youth Service America funded by Sodexo Foundation.

His proposal was to seek additional funds to complement the school's spring food drive to benefit The Kind Mouse's "Mouse Nibbles" weekend food bag program.
The MS Leadership Council is leading the efforts for food collection and organizing Alpha - Eighth Grade participation. The spring food drive will end on Friday, March 6.

All the food collected (and purchased with this grant) will be sorted and packed by the Ready for Life Service Week group in Upper School and delivered to area elementary schools on Fri. March 13.
This money will help us expand our reach to make a small difference for the 3,500 Pinellas County elementary-age children living in food-insecure homes.
