Thankful

by Mike Murphy, Headmaster
The worst was predicted. The worst was imagined. Some people experienced great loss. Some experienced discomfort and inconvenience. Some lost property. Yet, we can be thankful. A baby was born, friendships were strengthened, neighbors behaved like neighbors, and in many cases strangers became friends.

Yes, there was more stress than gasoline. The State did a great job of communicating and leading. Our Shorecrest Maintenance staff buckled us down and then cleaned us up so we were ready to open. Our Communications Team, as always, was reliable and positive, regardless of the ambiguity and pressure everyone experienced.

These two recent storms, Irma and Harvey, provide us with many opportunities to support the people and organizations who have been devastated. I am confident members of our community and many of our students will find meaningful ways to serve those less fortunate than ourselves.

So, we have survived Hurricane Irma. We are stronger, better prepared, and certainly thankful for the people and resources to allow us to go on with our daily lives with bright and promising futures ahead.

Cheers! and Go Chargers!

Mike
