Big Dreams: The Lower School Slide Project

After three years of asking, advocating, and dreaming, the Lower School Slide Project has had its official ribbon cutting! What began with a simple request from Lower School students, a slide on the playground, grew into something even bigger. To celebrate their persistence, one slide became a new play structure with three slides - one for each year they advocated! 

The idea was championed by Lower School Student Council, and last year's third graders put their persuasive writing skills into action, sharing why the addition would bring more movement, play, and outdoor fun to campus. Then our community came together to make it happen! Through gifts to the Shorecrest Fund, and the entire Class of 2026 adding their support through their Senior Legacy Project, families and donors collectively helped turn the students’ three-year wish into a reality.

Completed over the summer, all three slides are now open and being enjoyed by Chargers - a wonderful example of what can happen when student voices, persistence, and the generosity of our community come together. Thank you to everyone who gave through the Shorecrest Fund and helped make this big dream even bigger!
