MS Robotics at 2026 Canada Cup Niagara
Shorecrest’s FIRST LEGO League Team 1448, The Force, recently represented the State of Florida and the United States at the 2026 Canada Cup of Robotics Niagara, held from June 17-20 at the Canada Games Park adjacent to Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
The team earned their prestigious bid to the global tournament after placing third overall in the state of Florida — a remarkable achievement in a highly competitive season featuring over 1,000 teams statewide. At the Canada Cup, The Force faced off against 99 elite teams representing 26 countries, demonstrating their strengths in innovative project, robot design, strategy, and FIRST Core Values. They earned many top-tier "Accomplished" ratings across the official judging rubric.
Beyond individual performance, the tournament emphasized international collaboration and community building. During the Alliance Challenge portion of the event, The Force was paired with a rookie team from Alberta, The Pancake Overlords. They worked side-by-side to run both teams’ robots simultaneously on the field, demonstrating the FIRST value of Gracious Professionalism.
Off the field, team members immersed themselves in unique educational and cultural experiences, exploring the wonders of Niagara Falls and participating in a dedicated Night of STEM Exploration. During the interactive evening, students were able to operate and interact with humanoid and rover robots, as well as observe demonstrations investigating the reactivity and explosiveness of various gases. The event proved to be a resounding success for The Force, who returned home with high ratings, new international connections, and unforgettable memories from their world-class season.
Shorecrest Robotics would like to thank SPOCS Orthodontics for supporting our FIRST LEGO League and Vex Robotics teams this season and last. It is their kind donation that made competing on a global stage possible for our teams.
