Launching a Reading Workshop in an Independent School Classroom: An authentic approach to teaching literacy

Dates: July 15 - 17, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Sarah Finnemore Palazzolo, along with guest experts, will provide teachers with the necessary building blocks to implement a successful and authentic reading workshop routine in independent school classrooms. Through this comprehensive three-day seminar, participants will learn how to assess students in order to match instruction to their readers, enhance their students’ reading experience and accelerate their progress.

Seminar sessions will focus on conferring with 2nd-5th grade readers, planning interactive read alouds, writing effective mini-lessons and much more!

Earn 18 hours toward recertification.

Minimum Participants: 8; Maximum Participants: 25

Cost: $250 (Includes professional texts, binders with session content, reading assessments, children’s books to use for instruction, coffee, light breakfast and snacks.)

Your Instructor

Sarah Finnemore Palazzolo is a teacher and literacy consultant with expertise in reading and writing workshops and literacy curriculum development. She has taught third through fifth grades. Her experience as an independent school teacher, her training in reading and writing workshop from Columbia University, and Sarah’s position as lead staff developer and literacy coach with Pinellas County Schools allows her to offer specialized and practical professional development in literacy.
