Dr. Jean Spencer-Carnes
Director of Admissions

Dr. Spencer-Carnes has more than 30 years of experience in education and administration, 21 of which at Shorecrest. Jean has held a number of posts in her two-decade career at Shorecrest: a member of the teaching faculty, Lower School and Middle School dean of curriculum, and Director of The Learning Center. Jean holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Sarasota, Argosy, as well as a Masters in School Law and Administration from The University of Michigan. Jean is an active and engaged member of the St. Petersburg community, serving on various non-profit boards for both social and cultural organizations. She also maintains membership in a number of professional educational advisory committees. Jean is the mother of two boys, Jared and Brohgan, both of whom attended Shorecrest. She is the proud grandmother of 4 and looks forward to the day when her local grandchildren are ready to start The Experiential School.
Sandy Waldron
Associate Director of Admissions

Sandy Waldron is the Associate Director of Admissions at Shorecrest. Sandy grew up in the Venice area, not far from St. Petersburg, and has lived all over central and south Florida. She holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of Miami (Go Canes!) and a Master’s in Public Administration from USF. Previously, she has worked in college admissions and academic research, including assisting with updating a political science textbook. More recently, she taught fifth grade Social Studies at Shorecrest and helped students learn to map the world from memory while learning more about world cultures.
Roderick Avery Fludd

Roderick Avery Fludd, a Columbia, South Carolina, native, comes to Shorecrest with more than 20 years of experience in education, and 12 years in Diversity, Inclusion and Equity work. Roderick received his B.S. in Mathematics from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC, and his Masters in Education from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY.

For the last decade, Roderick held multiple positions at The Greenwich Country Day School in Greenwich, CT, including Mathematics Department Chair and Director of Diversity Programs and Community Life. Prior to GCDS, Roderick taught middle school math at the Brentwood School in Los Angeles, CA. Additionally, he has coached JV/Varsity softball since he began teaching.

An avid collector of bow ties, cufflinks and watches, Roderick is a lifelong Lakers/Dodgers fan. His wife Sara joins him in his move to St. Petersburg, and his daughter Rachel is beginning her sophomore year at the College of Charleston, in Charleston, SC.
Kim Hudson

Kim Hudson and her family have been in the Shorecrest community for a year. Kim will be the front desk receptionist for the Central Administration and her three children will join her at Shorecrest. Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from The United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Science in Information Systems from Hawaii Pacific University. She has had an interesting career as a Military Intelligence Officer, a security specialist, a consultant and most recently as a Grammar and Writing Instructor. The Hudsons will have children in fourth, eighth and tenth grades.
