Kindergarten visits Salvation Army Family Shelter

by
Arms loaded with canned goods and boxed food items, each kindergarten class contributed to the Community Pantry at the Salvation Army this week. Although their donations will help to serve several families in need, most of the shelves remain bare, and the shelter could really use our help!

In the spirit of the fall season, the children made autumn leaf centerpieces to brighten the tables of the dining hall of the soup kitchen. On their tour of the facilities, they were able to see a quilt made by last year's kindergarten and both indoor and outdoor murals painted by Shorecrest upper school students. At the end of our field trip, we were given small bells as a thank you!

The commitment to the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter is a year-long service learning project for the kindergarten classes. Look for more stories about how we help in coming months.
