Quilts and Patriotic Plumes for Salvation Army
The kindergarten students continue their commitment to the Salvation Army Shelter with patriotic flowers for the tables in the dining hall. They will be presented along with the class made quilts designed and sewn for the family units of the homeless shelter.
Each class chose a child-friendly theme and coordinating fabrics to accompany their quilt design. Each quilt includes kindergarten handprints embellished to match the theme.
The paper centerpieces and handmade quilts add color and a reminder to all who visit the shelter that we care about them.
Kindergarten has had a year long commitment to the Salvation Army:
First we toured the facility last fall
Then we made table decorations for the 18 tables in their soup kitchen for each season - fall, winter, spring and summer
We collected over 600 cans and boxes of food for their Food Pantry
We collected over 100 towels for their residents
Each K class made a beautiful, handmade quilt for children in the shelter. Mrs. Kotsko's class chose a heart theme, Mrs. Vigue's class used an ocean theme, and Mrs. Minke's class chose a sunny day theme.
A representative will come to speak with the students about the Salvation Army's appreciation of their efforts, and to pick up the 3 quilts and summer table decorations.
