Endowments & Annual Scholarships

Some families choose to go above and beyond their Annual Fund support of Shorecrest and contribute to an Endowed Fund to support the long-term stability of the school, or a Scholarship to allow a student to attend Shorecrest who otherwise would not have the ability to do so. Read below for information on both the Shorecrest Endowments and Scholarships.

Shorecrest Endowments

Endowment is the financial foundation of all successful education institutions. Income from endowment secures programs, supplements faculty compensation and enhances the educational experience above what tuition dollars cover. The principal is invested and a percentage of the earnings fund current school programs. An endowment gift is made in perpetuity to the school and future generations.

Gifts to endowment are transformational, and offer an exceptional opportunity to change the course of the school. To share your vision of how your gift might make that change, please contact Adrianne Finley Odell, Assistant Head of School: afinleyodell@shorecrest.org.

Board Designated Endowment Funds

In Support of Outstanding Teaching and Faculty

Shorecrest recognizes that a vital and energized faculty is the hallmark of an exceptional independent school. Endowment gifts nourish and strengthen our faculty by providing professional development and growth opportunities such as workshops, seminars and advanced studies.

Need-Based Financial Aid

To achieve our strategic goals as a diverse community, we must open our doors to those deserving students in our own neighborhoods whose families are unable to fully bear the cost of tuition by providing the necessary support to bring a Shorecrest education within reach.

General Endowment (Non-Designated)

Earnings from unrestricted endowment gifts will be used to support the most important needs of Shorecrest. This income will allow the school to mitigate tuition increases, upgrade technology, purchase new classroom supplies, maintain and improve the physcial plant and enhance the overall Shorecrest educational environment.

Facilities (Deferred Maintenance)

Endowment for facilities is the key to ensuring that adequate funds are available to maintain buildings. This endowment supports the care and maintenance of facilities, upgrading of technology, increased utilities and additional personnel to staff new buildings.

The Mosby Family Ancillary Fund

Established in 2006 by Glenn and Dav Mosby, The Mosby Family Ancillary Fund is an endowment that was established to provide funding for non-tuition based expenses to students receiving financial aid in the Upper School at Shorecrest. In creating this endowment, the Mosby Family wanted to ensure that financially needy students could fully participate in the life of Shorecrest during their high school years.

Scholarships

Scholarships are more than just a means to an education. Funding scholarships is an investment in talent; an opportunity to touch a life, a family, even an entire community. Our goal is to attract gifted students from families with a range of experiences and perspectives. Shorecrest is stronger and richer for their presence.

Financial support of Shorecrest scholarships will have a tangible and lasting impact on generations of deserving Shorecrest students, creating--in your name--a legacy of educational opportunity.

The Haskell Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship was created to honor Bruce Haskell, former Headmaster, and his family. The Haskell family, including Bruce, his mother and his grandmother, led Shorecrest for most of its first 62 years. A gift to the Haskell Alumni Scholarship in any amount will offer support to students with demonstrated financial need who are children of Shorecrest alumni.
