Some community members may need a virtual learning option due to COVID-19 and we are committed to providing that. Shorecrest will offer a Flexible Learning program for the 2021-2022 school year for specific, documented medical reasons.
There are two categories of Flex Learners for 2021-2022.
- Short Term Flexible Learners are enrolled in Flex due to a COVID infection or determination as a close contact of an infection. These students may enroll in the program only for the duration of their Department of Health mandated isolation or quarantine, and return to campus once the isolation or quarantine period ends.
- Long Term Flexible Learners may enroll in Flex due to a documented COVID-related medical reason and must commit to the program for nine weeks at a time. Students on the Long Term Flexible Learning Program may transition out of Flex and onto campus only on dedicated Flex In/Out Days. Those dates for 2021-2022 are: Monday, October 11
Tuesday, January 4
Tuesday, March 15
Because 2021-2022 Flexible Learning is limited to students with documented medical reasons, Flex students will not be permitted to participate in extracurricular activities as long as they are enrolled in Flex.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING HANDBOOK
The Flexible and Distance Learning Handbook will include detailed information about our plans for Flexible Learning while school is in session on-campus, and our plans should we need to move to all-school Distance Learning. It will be available after August 1, before school begins for the year.
