Coed, independent, PK3-12th grade school in St. Petersburg, Florida.

From the Head of School

Whether you're a prospective parent or student, a teacher looking for inspiration, or an alumnus trekking down memory lane, let me be the first to say welcome to Shorecrest! When I joined Shorecrest as the Head of School in 2020, I had the same combination of excitement and nervousness that everyone experiences when starting at a new school. Yet everything I now know for certain about Shorecrest reinforces my sense of wonder: our mission, core values and commitment to diversity; the outstanding people who take pride in working here; how welcoming the members of the community have been to my family and me. I invite you to visit us - virtually or in-person - and trust you'll experience the same.

Peek in our Experiential School, home of the youngest Shorecrest Chargers, and you'll see early childhood experts guiding our 3, 4, and 5-year-old students on the start of their learning journey. From purposeful play to in-depth investigations driven by student interests, it's not hard to see why The Experiential School is so much more than preschool.

Move through our kindergarten through fourth grade Lower School and you'll see scientists, mathematicians, problem solvers and writers deeply engaged in meaningful work that connects them to each other and the greater community.

In the fifth through eighth grade Middle School, Shorecrest students gain more independence, autonomy and choice, building on the many skills, dispositions and habits of mind fostered in the Lower School.

Finishing up in the ninth through twelfth grade Upper School you will find students exploring their interests and passions through signature experiences like the Center for Medical Sciences program, a student-created independent study, or the Global Scholars Initiative, to name a few. Shorecrest graduates cross the stage ready for college and beyond and empowered to make a difference.

Add our exceptional athletics teams, the award-winning fine and performing arts programs, our commitment to service learning, and the five guiding core values - Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Knowledge and Compassion - and you'll see why families from all across the Tampa Bay Area have chosen Shorecrest for nearly 100 years.

Shorecrest is a place where we love learning, turn empathy into action, and build bright futures. I invite you to explore these pages or visit us in person to learn more about what it means to be a part of the Shorecrest community.

All the best,
Nancy L. Spencer
Head of School
