The College Counseling Office (CCO) provides programming starting years before applications even begin, spiraling and expanding as students get closer to their senior year. All seniors have 1:1 college counseling with a professional, experienced college counselor who is firmly committed to coaching and supporting students toward the best match for their needs, interests and expectations.

Building Community
Students enjoy being a part of a thriving community of peers and adults in the Upper School. From advisory, student leadership and clubs; to events, traditions, and service learning; students have opportunities inside and outside of the classroom to build leadership skills, find their voice, and develop the habits of mind to be thriving, well-rounded adults. Whether they became a Charger in 9th grade, or have been at Shorecrest since 3-years-old, graduates repeatedly reflect on the closeness of their class when they cross the stage at commencement.
What I've realized is that the community here, just by its nature, really drives students to try and excel at any level. I received such a phenomenal education that really pushed me way beyond what I think I could have achieved anywhere else. Also, the people here are just wonderful in general - the teachers, students, faculty, etc.

Shorecrest’s Upper School Advisory programming helps students develop a strong sense of belonging with a small group of peers and a trusted adult. Through these relationships, students explore identity, belonging, decision-making, self-advocacy, and self-care as well as the Shorecrest Core Values: Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Knowledge and Compassion.
Upper School students have numerous opportunities for leadership both on and off campus, including:
- Student Council - student government
- Honor Council - promotes character, convenes to review honor cases
- Student Ambassadors - give campus tours, participate in Admissions events
These are groups to which students are elected or go through a rigorous selection process to serve the greater school community through respectful and responsible leadership. To help train our student leaders there are two Student Leadership Institutes held each school year, and time is devoted to one-on-one training.
Clubs, affinity groups and service projects and activities evolve with the interests and needs of Shorecrest students. Clubs and activities allow students to explore and celebrate interests outside of their academic courses, while forming relationships with peers across grade levels. The school year begins with a Clubs Fair where all students have access to each club's purpose and current leadership.
