Shorecrest Assistant Head of School Adrianne Finley Odell has been appointed Head of School at the Roycemore School in Evanston, Illinois. Roycemore is a 100-year-old co-educational Pre-K through 12th grade day school that serves a community of 250 students. Located close to Northwestern University, it has created a number of partnerships with the University that benefit students. Adrianne will begin her new leadership role effective July 1, 2017. Roycemore announced her appointment on their website on Wednesday, April 5.

“We are grateful for the many contributions Adrianne has made to the Shorecrest community over the past seven years. We are thrilled for Adrianne’s new opportunity and wish her the best at Roycemore,” says Shorecrest Headmaster Mike Murphy.

To the Shorecrest community Adrianne writes:

It is bittersweet saying goodbye to Shorecrest after seven years here. I am so grateful for the wonderful friendships I have made along the way and for the gift of an excellent educational foundation for my daughter, Kai, who graduated last year.

It has been humbling to partner with board members, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, grandparents and others to build a new Athletic Center, celebrate the school’s 90th Anniversary, create a facilities master plan, a couple of strategic plans, and start a Grandparent’s Council. We have a generous community who have responded so positively to outreach over the last seven years with their philanthropic support. When I joined Shorecrest in 2010, around 50% of parents gave to the Annual Fund. This year we will reach close to 90% participation if not more.

Your gifts allow our teachers to serve children in extraordinary ways—to help fund their professional development as well as the authentic learning experiences from which our students benefit.

It has been an honor to serve on the Global Scholars Initiative Board and guide students on their projects, plus collaborate with faculty throughout the school to help create, facilitate and fund innovations that have enhanced opportunities for students.

I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their support and thank Mike Murphy for his thoughtful mentorship that has helped prepare me to lead a school. I am indebted to him for his friendship and the opportunity to learn so much from his remarkable leadership.

Finally, I extend three cheers to the small but mighty team of women in the Advancement Office--Amy, Debbie, Kate and Joan, who work tirelessly and selflessly as champions of our school’s mission.

I look forward to visiting with many of you in the coming months to thank you in person for your support and partnership. I feel so fortunate to have been part of this incredible community that cares so deeply about children and that has created an inspired, life-changing learning environment to prepare them for a great future.
