Shorecrest Alumna Honored with 2025 Ben Fisher Alumni Mentoring Award
On October 15, 2025, Dr. Jasmine Cohen-Young ’10 was honored with the distinguished Ben Fisher Alumni Mentoring Award at Academy Prep’s Breakfast for Scholars. This annual award recognizes one outstanding Academy Prep graduate who exemplifies mentorship and service.
Dr. Cohen-Young is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, educator, and nonprofit leader whose career reflects excellence in leadership, advocacy and mentorship. As Founder and CEO of Mindz Matter, Inc., Jasmine leads initiatives that promote mental health literacy and support youth and collegiate athletes, especially in underserved communities.
She also serves the Department of Defense and mentors clinicians nationwide as a Licensed Clinical Supervisor. Dedicated to her field and training the next generation social work professionals, Jasmine also shares her time as an instructor at the University of Kentucky’s College of Social Work, mentoring doctoral scholars and teaching advanced clinical practice.
Her work has been featured in the Sport Social Work Journal, and she serves on the Kansas Social Work Advisory Committee and is active in national professional organizations.
A former student-athlete and team captain at Rollins College, Jasmine earned her Master of Social Work from UCF, where she was named 2017 Clinical Student of the Year. She later completed her Doctor of Social Work at the University of Kentucky, focusing on sport social work.
Dr. Cohen-Young is a 2006 graduate of Academy Prep and a Class of 2010 Shorecrest alumna. At Shorecrest Jasmine was a vibrant student leader - Student Council President, Chargers basketball teammate, and a member of multiple clubs. She credits Academy Prep and Shorecrest for instilling the confidence and time management skills that shaped her journey.
