This summer, Shorecrest's Upper School SPARC Club was excited to partner with PARC and its incredible staff once again to organize PARC’s second annual Summer Inspired Performers Theatre Program. PARC is an organization that provides artistic and professional opportunities to adults and children with intellectual/developmental disabilities. After the success of "The Lion King" last year, we had a magical musical revue from "Aladdin" this summer.
Thanks to the help of our new SPARC club members, we took our production to a whole new level this year with the addition of costumes, a handmade set, and an art sale fundraiser.

Returning SPARC members RJ Ayers '19, Dominic Hoefer '19, Olivia Olson '19 and Senna Prassatthong-osoth '19 worked with me once again to rehearse and perform alongside our friends from PARC. Will Hess '19 helped behind the scenes by moving our beautiful set which was designed by one of Shorecrest's own visual artists, Kareli Kongsiri '19. Evan Hoefer '21was another amazing addition to our cast. His experience from starring in Shorecrest's Middle School production of "Disney's Aladdin Jr." helped us develop our choreography and teach new techniques to our cast. Every week, I looked forward to watching our cast learn and grow. I love how tight-knit our group became from our collaborative hard work and focus. Working with returning performers from "Lion King" and getting to meet new friends was a major highlight for me this summer, and our group unanimously agrees that we have built forever friendships.
On August 16th, our cast performed in front of a packed crowd of friends and family. The clients from PARC nailed our choreography, and their shining smiles lit up the room. SPARC will return to PARC several times throughout this year, and we are so excited for what lies ahead! In addition to our work with PARC, SPARC plans to collaborate with various organizations throughout our community, and we are hoping to provide opportunities for Middle School involvement this year as well.
