The second grade has been studying the life cycle of the Painted Lady Butterfly. 3-5 day old caterpillars were delivered to the classrooms on April 12. Students observed their caterpillars every day, watched them grow, and learned all about the life cycle of these gorgeous insects. Students got to see the caterpillars turn into chrysalises and emerge as beautiful butterflies!
The whole process from caterpillar to butterfly took about 3 weeks. This week, they released their butterflies hoping they will continue their life cycle in the wild.
