Contributing Chargers: Amy and Lee Friedman

Over the course of the year we will highlight some of our Contributing Chargers, those members who have provided the Shorecrest community with their time, talent and/or financial support through Two Funds. One Mission.
Today’s Contributing Chargers are Amy and Lee Friedman, donors to the school’s Annual Fund and Transform Campaign. Amy and Lee are parents to four children, and their youngest daughter, Jenna is in fifth grade. The Friedmans have found a deep sense of community here at Shorecrest. They contributed to Shorecrest because of the support they received from the community in a time of need.
Amy shares, “This past December, I had an accident and fell down the stairs, breaking both feet and requiring surgery on one, leaving me wheelchair-bound for 6 weeks. I came home from the hospital to a beautiful flower bouquet from Shorecrest, along with a month-long sign up from Shorecrest Cares of dinners from generous Shorecrest families who were willing to help us in this time of need. I have never experienced such a sense of belonging to a community as I did during that time. Most of these families who brought us dinners were families that I didn't even know. At that point, I realized that Shorecrest was more than just a place where our child attended school. We have developed strong connections with Jenna's teachers, who have been nothing short of spectacular!”
We use the word community when speaking of the collective members of families, students, teachers, staff, alumni and friends who make up our Shorecrest supporters and friends. Yet, as our Headmaster Mike Murphy shares, our community is a family.
The service and care from Shorecrest Cares and the hundreds of other acts of kindness made by Chargers and their families show how community and family can merge and exemplify that we are a giving school.
Financial support is just one way that our families contribute to Shorecrest. This is a pivotal year to sustain the Annual Fund and finish Transform.
