Navigating the AI frontier at Shorecrest
Navigating the AI frontier at Shorecrest will be presented by Dr. Anna Baralt, Dean of Faculty & Curriculum, and Christine Scoby, Educational Technology Support Specialist on Wednesday, March 25, 8–9:30am in the Ohana Community Room on the 2nd floor of Charger Commons.
How is Artificial Intelligence (AI) enriching the way our children learn, create and grow? Shorecrest parents/guardians are invited to an introductory workshop to explore how Shorecrest is leading the way in this rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Go behind the scenes and see exactly how we are incorporating AI into our classrooms to enhance teaching and learning while staying anchored to our Mission and Core Values.
- Implementation: Learn about the intentional steps Shorecrest faculty has taken. We believe in "pedagogy first, technology second," ensuring our tools always serve our learning goals.
- Empowered Faculty: Our approach went beyond faculty training; we invited our teachers to co-author our AI strategy. This collaborative framework ensures our teachers aren't just adopting technology—they are leading its ethical and pedagogical implementation.
- Policies for Safety & Integrity: A review of our school-wide AI policies. We will discuss how we align these new tools with our Core Values, ensuring AI tools are used responsibly, ethically and safely.
- Developmental Milestones: Understand how AI evolves with your child — from teacher-led discovery in the early years to sophisticated, ethical analysis in the upper grades.
Following an overview we will transition into smaller groups for deeper, age-appropriate discussions and Q&A. Please join the session most relevant to your child:
Experiential & Lower School (ES/LS) - Focus on how faculty use AI to spark curiosity and personalize learning materials, all while ensuring the student experience remains hands-on and grounded in play and discovery.
Middle & Upper School (MS/US) - Explore how older students develop critical thinking skills through the use of AI as a sophisticated research partner. We’ll discuss "human-in-the-loop" writing, thus equipping students with the digital fluency needed to navigate a continuously evolving technological world.
An evening session will also be offered via Webex for those that can not attend in person. Date to be determined.
