During National French Week (the first week of November), over 31,000 Middle School students in America participated in the National Francophone Culture Trivia Contest. The contest was in the form of a Kahoot online learning game, with cultural questions about France and Francophone countries. The 25 question Kahoot was in English with a varied mix of questions such as: “Do you know which Francophone country has a red flag with a white cross in the middle?” “What Francophone island is the native habitat of the lemur, a nocturnal primate?” “What is the nickname of the national French soccer team?”
Shorecrest seventh grader Isabella J. ‘27 successfully answered 24 out of 25 questions and made it to the Finals Round, which had only 16 students.
"The Finals round played on Zoom was very stressful," she shared. Unfortunately, Isabella did not win the grand prize.
All Shorecrest MS students taking French will participate again next year.
