First Graders went for a field experience at Tampa Bay Watch down in Tierra Verde on Monday. The students seined the waterway and found arrow shrimp, sea stars, pinfish, pipefish, dwarf seahorses, pink shrimp, seagrass, sea snails and crown conch.
TBW started a discussion with the question, "What can we do to help the habitats and protect our waterways and the animals that live there?" They also found and observed plankton under microscopes. The students saw and labeled the phytoplankton and zooplankton. What an experience!
