Seventh Graders were outta sight at their Music Performance on Tuesday afternoon in the Janet Root Theatre. Led by Mrs. McCarthy, the seventh Grade Class of 2022 took the audience back in time with their tye-died T-shirts, hippie headbands and beads - singing songs from the '60s and '70s.
"Good Morning Starshine" was a great way to greet the audience before sharing a song in French from the 1967 Eurovision Song Contest that won for Luxembourg, "L'Amour est Bleu." The students next performed a tribute to Bob Dylan, "Blowin' in the Wind," in honor of his receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature this year. Following Dylan was a fun syncopated work of music by Cy Coleman that used his jazz and classical background to write the song, "The Rhythm of Life" from his Broadway musical "Sweet Charity".
The Seventh graders wrapped up their program with eight soloists leading the chorus group in Lou Reed's "Perfect Day." And that it was!
