Fifth Grade Lab: Pennies with Partners

Middle School News

Students in Selene Willis’ fifth grade science classes enjoyed a hands-on lab this week. Working in pairs, students used droppers to drip different liquids onto pennies to see which liquid would support the most drops. They had cups of plain water, sudsy water, and oil to drop on the pennies. This was one of their first experiments of the year to practice testing a hypothesis, calculating averages, and using a data table. The students were very engaged and noted on their lab documents how much fun they were having while learning.
