Lower School Hosts Visiting Musicians

Lower School News Arts

Shorecrest Lower School hosted some local artists in honor of Celebrate the Arts Week.

Sebastian Stefanovic, a professional violist with The Florida Orchestra, visited second grade students. He introduced the students to the different parts of the viola, facilitated students' emotional exploration of pieces new and old, and talked about what it was like to be a part of an orchestra.

Tabitha Pearce, local costume designer, musician and film editor, discussed her creative process with the students, examined how different creative mediums connect, and shared what it's like to work in the film and costuming industries. She also brought in some props she designed and fabricated to share with the students.

Lower School students also played percussion in drum circles hosted by Giving Tree Music. They focused on rhythm and human connection through music.
