Tennis District Tournament Results

In a 9-team single elimination District Tournament, the Shorecrest boys and girls teams placed third overall. Each flight, numbers 1-5 won their first round quarterfinal matches for the boys but then lost in the semifinals. The boys number 1 doubles team of Jack L and Luis S lost a semifinal battle to ODA's number 1 doubles team 6-2, 6-4. The Shorecrest number 2 doubles team of Matthew D and Stefan B advanced to the finals against St. Stephens and lost that battle 6-4, 6-4.
The girls continued their outstanding performance this season with three of the flights, number 2, 3, and 4 advancing to the semifinal rounds in singles. Wynn B, at the number 4 position advanced to the finals losing a tough battle to St. Stephens 6-4, 6-4. The number 1 doubles team of Melanie F and Bella R advanced to the semifinal round and lost a tough match to AFA 6-3, 6-3. The number 2 doubles team of Wynn B and Aly D advanced to the finals losing to St. Stephens 6-1, 6-0.
Coach Davis said, "Both teams put forth great effort during the tournament, and in a nine-team field we ended up the third best boys and girls teams in the District. I am excited by the prospects for next season! Go Chargers!"
