Chargers Varsity Swim & Dive had a big meet against powerhouse public schools St. Pete and Seminole this past Wednesday. The girls gave their best effort, but came up short against both teams. Leading the team with first place finishes against Seminole were Sophie Elwyn (Diving), Sarah Lankford (100 Free), Reagan Quilty (500 Free) and Ainsley Burke (100 Breast), and with winning times against St. Pete were Sophie E. (Diving), Sarah L. (100 Free) and Taylor Emerson (100 Fly). The girls 400 Free Relay was victorious against both teams and included Sarah L., Reagan Q., Emery Camp and Taylor E.
Shorecrest boys team was dominant all evening long with individual first place finishes against Seminole by Caleb Kravitz (200 IM & 100 Fly), Pablo Coundouriotis (50 & 100 Free), Dominic Hoefer (Diving), Misha Muskepo (100 Back) and David Sartania (100 Breast). The boys 200 Medley Relay (Misha M., David S., Caleb K. and Joseph Brockman) and the 400 Free Relay (Caleb K, Pablo C., Misha M. and Joseph B.) both took first place. Competing against St. Pete and winning their events were Caleb K. (200 IM & 100 Fly), Pablo C. (50 & 100 Free), Dominc H. (Diving), Joseph B. (500 Free) and David S. (100 Breast). The 400 Free relay also took first against St. Pete.
The Middle School team competed on Monday night against Canterbury, Berkeley Prep and Northside Christian and finished third on both the girls and boys side. Gregory F. finished first in the 100 Free and Isabella H. was first in the 100 IM. The coaching staff was excited to see so many time drops and realizing that the hard work does pay off.
Swim and Dive is back at it on Tuesday, October 3 for our last home meet and Senior Night. Please join us to recognize our graduating seniors, Pablo Coundouriotis, PJ Farley, Millie Abbey and Sylvia Smith.
