Middle School Football beats Seffner Christan

Athletics

The Shorecrest Middle School Football Chargers improved their record to 2-0 with a solid 22-0 victory against Seffner Christan this past Thursday. The Chargers had control of this game from the start as Drew B '23 pinned the opening kickoff down to their 15 yard line. Then a great Charger defensive stand lead by Enzo P '23, Jake K '23 and Talon H  '24 had the Chargers starting at Seffner's 8 yard line. Fullback Talon H ran hard up the middle and scored on the Chargers first play, but injured his shoulder and was not able to return. QB Rogan K '23 found TE Drew B in the end zone for the two point conversion.

On the next drive by Seffner they controlled the ball for over 6 minutes as our Defense was adjusting to not playing with Talon H. Cyrus '24 stepped up to play LB and was making big tackles. Seffner's passing game was limited by great secondary work of James F '23, Jake W '24 and Trey M '24. On Shorecrest's second drive starting at their own 25 yard line Trey M busted around the corner with great blocking from Cody B '24, Chase W '23 and Patrick D '23 to run it 45 yards down to Seffners 30 yard line. Then Rogan K hit James F with a pass on 4th and 10 to move the ball down to the 2 yard line. From there Rogan K ran the ball in for a 2 yard run. The two point conversion was unsuccessful. Another great kickoff by Drew B pinned them down inside their own 20 yard line. The Shorecrest Defense kept pushing them back with great plays by Hadeon S '24, Drew B, Enzo P and Chase W, but it was finished off by Patrick's sack of the QB in the endzone for a safety. Shorecrest went into halftime up 16-0.

In the second half the Chargers struggled on their first drive and were forced to punt. The Defense had another great stand lead by Hayden W '25, Alex W '25, Derek B '25 and Luca D '25. It was now the last offensive drive of the game and it was short thanks to great blocking by Sasa B '25, Jake K and Drew B. Trey M hit the corner again and this time it 80 yards to the end zone. The game was called after the third quarter because of lighting.

This Thursday, September 20, is the last home game of the season for the Chargers. Please support them as they take on a very tough Keswick football team!
