Varsity Golf Does Great at Districts

Athletics

Varsity Golf had a great day at Districts at Bayou Club! The boys team and both individual girls qualified to go to Regionals!

With the golfers playing in hot weather on a course set up for difficulty, Adrianna Linn '18 assured her return to Regional competition by posting a solid 86. Eighth grader Isabella D. also had a great showing for such a young golfer, posting a score of 92 that qualified her for her first Regionals.

In a year where CCC and Calvary Christian have dominated District 14, the Shorecrest boys team knew that it would need a strong showing to edge out the likes of Northside Christian and St. Pete Catholic to win the third place spot to take SPS to Regionals. Eighth grader Bill B., in an exciting head to head match against two seasoned seniors from Northside and AFA, had his best day ever in competition tying his PR of 76.

Turner Bramlet '20 also had a great day, responding to Coach Sopka’s challenge at the halfway mark that his score on the back 9 could make or break the win, posting a great score of 86. Mike B
lount '18, always a reliable scorer in competition, returned to play this week and posted of a solid score of 96. 7th grader Drew B. also had a great day for such a young player, posting a 96, too. Andrew C. '20 continues to improve his competition scoring abilities and rounded out the scores for the day with a 107.

Good luck to the SPS golfers at the Regionals (1A, Region 5) at Carrollwood Country Club on Monday, October 23rd!
