Coach Saunders Named Head Boys Basketball Coach

Coach Justin Saunders has been named Head Boys Basketball Coach for the 2018-19 season. Coach Saunders has led the Middle School team for two strong seasons, followed by two winning seasons with the JV team. He has served as an Assistant Coach to the Varsity team for the last two years. In 2016 he launched the Shorecrest Basketball Training Program for Lower and Middle School students.

I know that we have some committed kids that are ready to put in the work that it takes to have success, and my job is to give them every opportunity to do so. I will work to build a culture of trust, accountability, and togetherness.” assured Coach Saunders.

In addition to his Shorecrest coaching experience, Coach Saunders has worked with a number of high profile community teams and organizations, including the Tampa Titans, Team X-Factor, and at the Basketball Warehouse. His U16 team won multiple tournaments in 2017 including the AAU Easter Classic at Disney Wide World of Sports. He has also worked alongside Coach Marvin Harvey and Ivan Romero in the Marvin Harvey School of Basketball Excellence in Tampa.

Coach Saunders holds a USA Basketball Gold Coach License. He attends multiple basketball clinics throughout the year including the USA Basketball Coach Academy and the Jay Bilas Coaches Clinic.In April, he will complete his Masters degree from Ohio University.

Interested parents and players are invited to meet with Coach Saunders on Thursday, March 1 between 5-6pm in the Crisp Gym.
