After an exceptional season, Shorecrest’s Upper School VEX Robotics Team 6104G earned the incredible opportunity to represent their region on the world stage at the 2025 World Robotics Championship. Among more than 12,000 teams from around the globe, our students stood out, ranking among the top 820 teams from 50 nations.

Over three days of intense competition in the Opportunity Division, the three-person team of Gaston Grehan-Savona '26, Patrick Meng '25 and Kiera Nguynen-Lin '28 held a solid 5-5 record during the qualification rounds. Their performance and collaborative spirit earned them a coveted spot in an alliance for the division’s round of 16, a testament to their engineering skill and strategic gameplay.

Gaston Grehan-Savona ‘26 shared, “Attending Worlds is an amazing experience. I really enjoy meeting up with teams that we have met or followed throughout the season. It’s a great chance for us to network and learn from the best.”

Patrick Meng ‘25 said, “Getting to attend Worlds two years in a row has been such an honor. Competing at this level pushes you to be your best. It’s bittersweet knowing this was my last season, but I’m proud of everything we accomplished.”

The experience culminated with a thrilling finale as students watched the winning alliances from each of the ten divisions face off in the championship rounds, followed by the much-anticipated reveal of the 2025-2026 Push Back game. It was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, growth, and inspiration for the season ahead.

Coach Sarah Balisalisa says, “Worlds is an incredible opportunity for our students—not just to compete, but to see a wide variety of robot designs, learn how other teams operate, and strategize with students from all over the world. It’s about more than robotics; it’s about building networks, friendships, and life skills that will stay with them long after the season ends.”
