MS Wax Museum Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
Eighth graders brought history to life this week with the Hispanic Heritage Wax Museum - a creative, educational and entertaining showcase of influential Hispanic figures.
Each student selected a famous Hispanic person who inspired them, then researched their life and accomplishments. After writing a paper and creating a poster, students crafted a short speech written in Spanish to share with visitors to their mock wax museum.
On October 23 the project came to life in the Rec Gym. Dressed in costume and surrounded by props, students struck a “statue” pose. Each “wax figure” came alive for visiting classes and faculty, speaking in the first person in Spanish to share their story. They also gave their own reflection on the person’s legacy that is still relevant today.
“This is the final—and most exciting—step of our month-long project celebrating influential Hispanic figures,” said Eighth Grade Spanish Teacher, Jackie Cline.
The Wax Museum project combined research skills, public speaking, and Spanish language skills in a fun and memorable celebration of culture and learning.
