Sixth Grade Anthropologists

Middle School News

This week, in Social Studies sixth graders began a unit studying ancient humans, and in science the students practiced their observation skills by playing anthropologist. They observed the features of modern human skulls and modern chimp skulls, and compared them to four "unknown" hominid skulls. Classes were tasked with collecting qualitative and quantitative data of the skulls, identifying the skulls and sequencing their evolutionary history.

This cross-curricular project is an example of how students apply science and make connections to other disciplines.
