Mrs. Granger’s third graders studied the Wetlands for 10 weeks. They spent a week researching Wetland topics in small groups to develop a project to share. Their objective was to gather accurate information and creatively share that information in an organized manner. After several days of planning and creating presentation materials, students had a couple of days to practice presenting their project for an audience.
Students collaborated in small groups and negotiated their thoughts and ideas on how to deliver the information they gathered. Several groups made videos to support their posters, handouts, and other visual aids. Other groups made clay models, and some "reported" their information in the manner of a TV News broadcast.
This was their first project share of the year and the room was buzzing with positive energy and feedback. Families, friends, other classes and school administration were interested audiences on the day of the project share.
“Our class can't wait to have another project share!” Mrs. Granger reported. “Despite some nervousness, they loved sharing their learning with others.”
