Shorecrest School

Head of School Letter: Final Thoughts

Head of School Letter

As this school year comes to a close (yes, after Memorial Day!) it feels fitting to pause and reflect on what we have experienced and accomplished over these past ten months. In a year when we have been challenged by hurricanes which have disrupted all of our lives, I am reminded of the key aspects that define Shorecrest: the importance of community and our Core Values of responsibility, respect, integrity, knowledge and, especially, compassion.

Throughout this year, regardless of interruption and dislocation, we have seen families come together to help other Shorecrest community members. We have witnessed students achieve impressive milestones and faculty members continue to teach with passion. There have been so many moments of joy, inspiration and deep connection! Our faculty’s commitment to Shorecrest students has never wavered, as we focused on encouraging each child to achieve their highest potential. Despite the many challenges presented to us this school year, Shorecrest students  excelled in academics, athletics, the arts, robotics and so much more.

We celebrate each individual student's journey - whether the move from preschool to kindergarten, middle to high school, as they embark on their college years, or anywhere else along the way.

Shorecrest is a remarkable place, not just because of our programs, but because of the committed and caring people who look out for each other and support one another in countless ways. We are confident that our students will carry Shorecrest’s core values with them as they step into the world as thoughtful leaders, ready to make a difference in an ever-changing world. We look ahead with optimism and pride, with the belief that together, we can weather any storm.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful summer vacation with family and friends. We look forward to your return in August.

All the best,
Nancy
